Wuxi Cummins Turbo Technology Co., Ltd. Celebrates Its 70th Anniversary

On March 29, 2022, Cummins Turbo Technology celebrated its 70th anniversary. All employees of Wuxi Cummins Turbo Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Wuxi CTT) witnessed this historical moment.

On March 29, 1952, HOLSET Engineering Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Cummins Turbo Technologies (hereinafter referred to as CTT), was established in the United Kingdom. After more than 20 years of development, it has become a leader in the field of superchargers.

In 1973, due to business needs, Cummins completed the acquisition of Holset, which improved the product competitiveness of both parties. Over the past 70 years, HOLSET turbocharger has been continuously innovating, providing professional and leading products and services to customers around the world, and has now become a well-known turbocharger brand in the automotive industry.

In 1996, Cummins turbocharged technology established business in Wuxi, took root in the Chinese market, and continuously developed generations of turbocharged products suitable for Chinese market applications, and took a leading position in the diesel and natural gas engine market. At present, its products cover a full range of light, medium and heavy products, providing turbocharged products with high fuel efficiency and high reliability for the engines of domestic mainstream automakers.

Over the past 25 years of development in China, Wuxi CTT has achieved remarkable results:

1. Produced 18 million superchargers;

2. RD and production of 110,000 exhaust throttle valves (ETV) in 2020;

3. Serving 30 mainstream customers at home and abroad: Cummins, Sinotruk, Weichai, Yuchai, Xichai, Dongfeng, Scania, Volvo, etc.;

4. Since the official establishment of the turbocharger technology center in 2008, continuous innovation and transformation of achievements have allowed CTT to be rated as "Jiangsu High-tech Enterprise" for many times, based in China, serving the world, with over 50 percent of local engineers serving Global client projects;

5. Passed ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO14001, ISO45001 and other quality, environment and safety system certification;

6. Smart Factory: Wuxi CTT continuously iterates and upgrades assembly technology, explores and applies advanced technologies of Industry 4.0 such as intelligent manufacturing equipment and digitalization, and creates a healthier and safer working environment by introducing industrial IoT technology.

At the event, Liu Dongliang, general manager of Wuxi CTT, said, "The development of Cummins turbocharging technology in China is inseparable from continuous technological innovation, efficient lean management and continuous improvement of operational processes, and long-term trust and support. The vast number of customers of the Wuxi CTT business, and all of this could not have been possible without all the employees contributing to it."

In the face of future opportunities and challenges, Wuxi CTT will actively deploy emerging industries and fully develop green and clean energy product technologies, including LNG, hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen internal combustion engines, and hybrid applications. It makes unremitting efforts for the development of domestic clean energy key technologies and its industrial chain, and contributes to the realization of the dual carbon goal.
